About The Event

Our Young Artists Advance Program is perfect for kids who have a passion for art and have experience painting with acrylics! The classes will be held here at Captured on Canvas on Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 9am-11am for 2 weeks. Our advance program is focused on experimenting with techniques and understanding use of brushes, color, and composition. In our 2 week program we will complete 1-3 painting, depending on each individual project and skill level. We supply all the canvases, brushes, paints, aprons, etc. Feel free to bring a beverage or small snack.

Each child will get to choose what they would like to paint!

We will also focus on creating a masterpiece to be submitted into the Dubuque County Fair Art Contest! Please Sign-up before July 13th so we can send further information and submission forms! :)

We have converted to Loyalty Points! Create an account on our website to start earning Paint Paints to a FREE Paint Party Pass!
Please call the store if you have a physical Punch Card that you are using for payment or stop in-store and we will convert your Punches to Points! :)

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel 24 hours or more prior to the event, credit can be transferred to another event or put on hold for up to 3 months. If not used within the 3 months, credit will be lost.
Loss of payment will occur if no notification of cancellation occurs or if notification occurs with-in 24 hours prior to the event.
If an event has low attendance it may get CANCELLED. A notification will be sent out and option to transfer the credit to another event within 60 days will be offered.

Beverage Policy

Wine and Beer are available for purchase in-studio! Wine sold by the bottle and beer by the cans! No alcoholic carry-ins allowed.

Snacks Policy

We area a BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks) Studio.

What do need to bring?

Not a thing, unless you wish to bring your own snacks or non-alcoholic beverages Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks are available for purchase in-store. We supply everything to create the painting and supply aprons to cover your clothing!

What to expect?

A fun and relaxing painting experience! No need for experience, we guide the painting set-by-step by a local artist so ANYONE can follow along!

Ages Requirements?

For our kids events we recommend ages 6 years or older. If child is young then 6, they can still participate if accompanied by an adult. Parents are welcome to sit in on the class or drop off for kids 6 or older.

For our adult events, 16 years or older is recommended. If younger than 16, they can still participate if accompanied by an adult.

Do I Tip The Artist/Staff?

Tips are not expected, but if you really enjoyed your time at our studio and the artist/staff did a great job and was helpful, tips are greatly appreciated and let's us know we are doing a great job!

Do I need a reservation?

No, We offer all of our DIY activities, including ceramic painting, mosaics, splatter booth, wreath and candle making anytime during store hours. For GROUPS LARGER THAN 8 a call ahead is appreciated.

How long does the activity take?

As long you like! Typically plan 2 hours for most of our DIY activities. All depends on the project and detail you apply to a project! Splatter Booth is booked for 1 hour + setup time and cleanup.

How much does it cost?

Prices are listed on each project in the store. The only time an optional additional charge may apply is if you wish for a glossy finish applied to your ceramic.

When can I take the project home?

You can take the project home upon completion! This is a list of the times you would need to come back for

Candles, take 2 hours to set
Splatter Booth, takes about 2 hours to dry
Ceramics, ONLY IF you pay for the glossy finish. This typically is a 2-5 day turn around.

Can I take the project home and do it?

We offer a Take & Paint Kit for all of our ceramics! At no extra charge, you can pick out your ceramic and it will come with 5 paint colors, 2 paint brushes, color mixing guide, and a palette container

What if I don't complete the project when at the studio?

You will still need to take your project home with you and hopefully you can finish at home! If not, you can come back another day and pay a studio fee of $7 to complete your project.

What is your beverage and snacks policy?

You are welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer, wine, soda, water, juice, snacks are available for purchase in our store. Carry-in alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed.
